SYSTEM FOR CONSEQUENCES
The system used in my class has four tiers. As a students disrupts class or causes difficulties for other students, they move down the tiers, and consequences are tied to each tier. Students do have the ability and opportunity to redeem and move away from a negative tier.
Green
Students are doing what is expected and not causing problems. Students are following rules and expectations.
Yellow
A warning that student’s actions are too disruptive after multiple attempts to have student self-correct. A Yellow means the student will lose 5 min. of recess.
Orange
Student continues to disrupt the class or the student commits a serious infraction as per school rules. An orange is still a teacher directed consequence.
Red
The student’s actions warrant a phone call to parents. A red also warrants a referral to administration.
Blue (this one actually goes above green)
Student shows selfless behavior by helping others without being asked to and with no expectations for reward.
